CAPITOL 1212 feat. Dizzy Dustin, Mike G, MCM, Cadence, & DJ Sheep: Good Times (2012) free download + album announced

Word on the street has it that Capitol 1212 a.k.a production team Professa Fresh and Fly-T are working on their debut LP and if their last single Good Times was anything to go by, that should give you more than a twitch in your pants. For those who missed it the other year, Good Times was a phat party hip-hop posse cut …READ FULL POST @ MONKEYBOXING.COM

BLOWN CELEB: 1000 Screaming Kamikaze’s (2012)

BLOWN CELEB: 1000 Screaming Kamikaze’s (2012)
You might not have heard of rappers Swiss Precise and Jon E Rockwell who together form Blown Celeb but you’ll almost certainly have heard of Rockwell from his day job as Dizzy Dustin of Long Beach’s old school party hip-hop crew Ugly Duckling. Blown Celeb is Dizzy’s side project and 1000 Screaming Kamikaze’s (let’s not talk about that apostrophe right now) is their debut album. Many will know of UD’s nearly two decades long pursuance of true school tenets in the face of commercialisation so it will come as no surprise that Blown Celeb are similarly minded. What might come as a surprise however, is Blown Celeb’s sound and lyrics – don’t go expecting…READ FULL POST @ MONKEYBOXING.COM

UGLY DUCKLING: New LP title ‘Moving At Breakneck Speed’ announced - 2011

UGLY DUCKLING: New LP title ‘Moving At Breakneck Speed’ announced - 2011
Long Beach crew Ugly Duckling will be back in 2011 with a new LP entitled Moving At Breakneck Speed. The release date has not yet been decided but rapper Andy Cooper was kind enough to let Monkeyboxing.com preview three tracks off the new album this week. The monkey is under strict instructions to keep the tracks themselves on the downlow but we can tell you that they are called, Keep Movin’, Elevation and Sprint. Speaking of the LP in the recent…READ FULL POST @ MONKEYBOXING.COM

CAPITOL 1212: Good Feelin (feat. Mike G, MCM, Cadence, Dizzy Dustin & DJ Sheep)/ Fly Times (feat. Time Machine & Danny Diamond)

: CAPITOL 1212: Good Feelin (feat. Mike G, MCM, Cadence, Dizzy Dustin & DJ Sheep)/ Fly Times (feat. Time Machine & Danny Diamond) – 2010
RATING: 5/5
Massive breaks, sweet funk loop and more quality Yank MCs than James Brown could shake his lickin’ stick at? Yes, Capitol 1212 join the few who stand firm on the battered island of true-school hip-hop against the tidal waves of crap that daily batter its shores. They follow up their hip-hop/ dancehall crossover Invade The Carnival with Good Feelin and continue a tradition of UK producers crafting classic beats for U.S. MCs which in recent years has yielded some of the best hip-hop around

UGLY DUCKLING: The interview – 2010

UGLY DUCKLING: The interview 2010
Underground legends Ugly Duckling have been delivering consistently excellent, funky, sample-based hip-hop since the early nineties and have a discography totalling no fewer than four studio LPs. The three-man outfit comprising of two MCs (Andy Cooper and Dizzy Dustin) and one DJ (Young Einstein) are favourites with club DJs for bangers such as ‘Just A Little Samba’and ‘Turn It Up’ and also justly famous for their upbeat live performances which have garnered them a hugely loyal fanbase. Having toured the world extensively over the last couple of years promoting their last LP ‘Audacity’, UD only recently returned to their native Long Beach, California. They were probably expecting a rest or something but monkeyboxing was hammering on their doors (or at least their inbox) having heard the rumour (largely started by UD themselves, on their own website) that there was a new LP in the works. Run to ground, UD were actually good enough to give us the 411 on the trials of touring, the new album, and Dizzy’s record label Kamikazi Airlines as well as – er – Andy C’s encounter with the hounds of hell in England, and why Einstein had to be carried onto the plane in Ireland:

You know what? I don’t think this has had enough props yet. For one thing, it slipped under my radar and I keep an eye out for this type of shit! The short version is that MC Dizzy Dustin of Ugly Duckling set up his own hip-hop label a couple of years back and this mixtape showcases twenty three tracks from the talent including Dizzy’s own side project, Blown Celeb. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of Blown Celeb and The Argyle Pimps (among others) – it’s high time you clicked the download link…DOWNLOAD/ READ THE REST AT MONKEYBOXING.COM
