If you missed the recent free mp3 offer of Nouvellas’ demo track Satisfied on Monkeyboxing Empire, check out the following link to The Nouvellas performing live on WFMU (hosted by the preposterously named Gaylord Fields - only in America!) because these guys be kicking some mad funky soul! The tracks start at about 28 minutes through the broadcast and include Can’t Take It, Don’t Change, (Baby Please) Come Back To Me and Don’t Count On Me with an interview following those named above and then a few more tracks. Jaime and Leah trade raw soul vocals over the band’s sweet music and their guitarist has some vintage funky licks – check Can’t Take It or the first track after the interview if you don’t believe me. If this is a taste of what their debut album is going to be like, it’ll be one of the LPs of next year. Word!
