THE NOUVELLAS – New single and album set for 2008 release
If you caught Let’s Boogaloo Vol. 3 you’ll have heard of The Dansettes whose sister soul-funk banger Oh My was one of the highlights on the LP and provided it with a fitting finale. Anyway – The Dansettes are now de’funked’ (sorry – cheap but strangely satisfying) and The Nouvellas have risen from the ashes with a similar sound. Vocalists Jaime and Leah contributed backing vocals on Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings latest LP 100 Days, 100 Nights and those of you who sneak furtive looks at Monkeyboxing Empire Music when you should be working might have noticed that The Nouvellas have been sitting pretty at the top of the Monkeyboxing November chart and with good reason. Satisfied is an utterly satisfying ultra raw sounding funk soul cut and will be one of the tracks featured on a new 7” that should be released in late January which in turn will be followed by an LP out later in the year. Keep your ears peeled and keep checking back.
