BOMBS - A Fifth Of Cool J - 2007 - Single review

BOMBS – A Fifth of Cool J – 2007 – EP review
TRACKS: A Fifth of Cool J - Let The Lyrics Roll - Gang of James - Elevate Your Oochie
RATING: 5/5

A fifth of Cool J, a dash of Lyrics Born, a slice of Beethoven…the lame cocktail ingredients metaphor could go on forever (or at least until you stop recognising them for there are so many) but there’s nothing lame about the aptly named Bombs’ latest twelve inch mash-up marguerita. My money’s on Gang of James with what sounds like The James Gang's Funk 49 used to splendid effect, though all the tracks on here show that Bombs are clearly people who understand the DJ’s prime directive. Rocking phat shit on the wheels of steel. This is a record that wants you to dance so bad it’s already rung your mates, ushered you into the shower, and called a taxi before you realised you fancied going out.
Out now.
