THE ALLERGIES: Heartbreaker EP (2013)

No post Christmas/ NYE lying low for either the Riddim Fruit label (who released the reliably heavyweight DJ Alias EP yesterday) or for Djs Moneyshot & Rackabeat team-up project The Allergies – who dropped massive old school freebie The Pick Up Line the other week. Why? Because The Allergies Heartbreaker EP is cued for release in the middle of this month. The boys pillage…READ FULL POST @ MONKEYBOXING.COM

THE ALLERGIES: Pete Rock & CL Smooth ‘T.R.O.Y.’ (The Allergies revisit) (2012) Free download
The Allergies is the new dj/ production project from Bristol DJs Moneyshot and Rackabeat and they’re on a mission to, “bring that vintage sound of sampled funk, psych, hip-hop and rock back to the forefront of club music…[and]…breathe new life into the finest dusty old records.” They must have been reminisicing over how it was back in the day or something. ZEDS DEAD: Rudeboy (DJ MONEYSHOT 110 edit) - free download
In which Roy ‘Moneyshot’ Spencer re-imagines Canuck beatheads Zed’s Dead’s Rudeboy as something you can actually dance to. What with the original track being essentially a 70 bpm chunk of wobbly trip-hop a certain amount of speed (velocity not the drug) would seem to be a key ingredient for success. Enter the Moneyshot at 110 bpm (hence the re-edit name) to make things faster and, in conjunction with doing a cheeky messaround with the rhythm section, considerably ruder inna ‘ghettofunk’ stylee. He invites you to…READ FULL POST @ MONKEYBOXING.COM

DJ MONEYSHOT: The Stunt Cock EP – 2010

DJ MONEYSHOT: The Stunt Cock EP – 2011
RATING: 5/5
Think I know who might win the prize for the best name for a release (no pun intended) this year - for here is sometime Parker cohort, Moneyshot with his Stunt Cock EP. Something tells me that with a ‘vinegar stroke’–related nom de guerrre like his, he wasn’t envisaging a daredevil rooster when he came (no pun intended) up with that title. All that shenanigans aside, what Moneyshot delivers here is a three track gem showcasing his canny knack for…READ THE REST AT MONKEYBOXING.COM
