THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS feat. FATLIP - The Salmon Dance - 2007 - Single review
THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS feat. Fatlip – The Salmon Dance – 2007 – 12” review
RATING: 3/5
‘Features a rapper that I’ve never heard of’ simpered the camp bloke on Channel 4’s Freshly Squeezed simultaneously making me feel old. Well – he might have been too young to have heard Bizarre Ride II... but it’s not like various members of The Pharcyde haven’t been pimping their services around lately what with Bootie Brown's Gorillaz gig on Dirty Harry and everything. Not to be outdone - here we have Fatlip spouting what, frankly, amounts to utter bollocks over a ‘by numbers’ Chemical Brothers tune. And it’s so 90s. 90s beat, 90s trippy-house synth pulses, 90s ‘trip-hop’-style American voiceover sample from the 50s and a 90s underground rapper. This notwithstanding, it’ll be filling dancefloors at student unions countrywide by the time you’ve read this and single-handedly revitalising the sales of crap Acupuncture trainers and baggy microfibre trousers.
Out now.
