MAKO & THE HAWK: Party Goin’ On EP (2013) + video

It ain’t final til it’s vinyl! Damn straight and here’s Mako & The Hawk on wax at last – twelve black inches of it – as the slackest duo on the party breaks scene get their shit together in time for the summer party season. The Party Goin’ On EP is the latest from the mighty Breakbeat Paradise Recordings, then. The action kicks off with the title track – an epic Wiseguys-ish b-boy breaks banger and three slabs of old school hip-hop, boom-bap booty that’ll rock a house party at the drop of a …READ FULL POST @ MONKEYBOXING.COM

FORT KNOX FIVE: 10 Years Of Fort Knox Five (2013)

Has it really been ten years of Fort Knox Five? I had to dig out my 12″ of Radio Free DC (which features on this) to see how old it was and even that’s eight years old. So, yes a decade since the spy funk breaks of The Big Score. If another record company had signed the four of them (yes, I know) back in 2003 you can imagine they might have …READ FULL POST @ MONKEYBOXING.COM

High praise indeed in some circles, including (of late) this one. The facts, however, are simply this:…WATCH VID/ READ THE REST AT MONKEYBOXING.COM

MAKO & THE HAWK: Spacing Rasco – Free download
(PRESS RELEASE) Is it a mash-up or is it remix? Are these really two distinct concepts anyway? Mako and The Hawk couldn’t give a monkey’s! Shamelessly stealing Rasco’s vocals from Parker’s ‘Bristol bass’ hit Western Soul, they craftily weld the Cali Agent MC onto a new beat made from an obscure funk 45 dug up by Mako. In doing so they spawn…LISTEN/ DOWNLOAD/ READ THE REST AT MONKEYBOXING.COM

MAKO & THE HAWK: Shut Up And GIve It Up - Free download

MAKO & THE HAWK: Shut Up And GIve It Up - Free download
(PRESS RELEASE) The second mash-up from this duo, Mako has tried to distance himself from the project claiming that with Shut Up And Give It Up the Hawk was trying to ‘house’ him and that it sounds nothing like the "create something a bit like Rapper’s Delight" idea they had originally mooted. Despite this, the Hawk persists with the flimsy argument that
